Somathai™
Trainings
Learn to work with the body through touch, movement, and an understanding of the nervous system.
There is something remarkable about what can happen when someone feels genuinely supported in their body. Muscles that have been working too hard begin to rest. Movement becomes easier. The breath changes. Sometimes, the smallest adjustment in pressure, position, or timing makes all the difference.
But how do you know what to do, when to do it, and how much is enough?
These are the questions at the heart of Somathai™.
Somathai™ brings together traditional Thai Yoga bodywork and somatic practice to teach a way of working with the body that is both skillful and responsive. Through assisted stretching, rhythmic pressure, joint mobilization, and supported movement, you'll learn to help people experience greater comfort, mobility, and ease in their bodies and lives.
You'll also learn about the nervous system and how it responds to touch. Why does one person relax into a stretch while another braces against it? How can the pace of a movement change someone's experience? What helps a person feel safe enough to let go of unnecessary tension?
Understanding these responses changes how you work. Instead of following a sequence regardless of what's happening, you learn to notice, adapt, and make informed choices.
Whether you're completely new to bodywork or have been practicing for years, there is a place for you here.
If you're a beginner, you'll learn a comprehensive set of hands-on skills from the ground up, with clear instruction, plenty of practice, and the support to develop confidence as you go.
If you're already working with bodies, whether through yoga, movement, physical therapy, somatic practice, or another hands-on discipline, you'll gain new techniques, a deeper understanding of nervous system responses, and more ways to meet the individual needs of the people you work with.
What you'll learn
Thai Yoga bodywork: Assisted stretching, rhythmic pressure, joint mobilization, and supported movement in a variety of positions
Somatic principles: How sensation, breath, and nervous system responses inform the way we work with the body
Regulation and co-regulation: How touch, rhythm, pacing, and relational presence can support a greater sense of safety and ease
Body mechanics: How to use your weight, leverage, and positioning to work effectively without unnecessary strain
Observation and adaptation: How to recognize when the body is receptive, when it's protecting, and how to adjust your approach
Session development: How to bring individual techniques together into fluid, thoughtful sessions that respond to the person in front of you
You'll learn by doing. And by feeling.
These trainings are small, personal, and filled with hands-on practice. You'll work closely with other students, receive individual guidance, ask questions, make mistakes, try again, and gradually find your own confidence.
You'll also receive the work you're learning to give.
This is an important part of the process. Feeling the difference between pressure that is helpful and pressure that is too much, between a movement that invites and one that pushes, teaches something that instruction alone cannot.
And along the way, you'll have opportunities to notice your own patterns of tension, effort, movement, and response.
You don't need to know anything about Thai Yoga bodywork to begin. You only need curiosity, a willingness to practice, and an interest in how we can support one another through touch.
