Your body is the home of your soul on earth - however most of us aren't taught to pay much attention to our bodies - we are instead taught to ignore them or push them to their limits. And yet, your body is in total support of you, constantly working, healing, protecting, and moving - all for you.
When we learn how to pay attention to the subtleties of our body and our senses, what we often find is clarity, inspiration, guidance, compassion and deep healing.

FAQ
- What is Thai Yoga?
Thai Yoga, also called Thai Yoga Massage or Thai Massage, is an ancient and sacred system of healing with roots in Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice. It is a unique and powerfully effective system of therapeutic bodywork combining rhythmic massage, acupressure, Asana (yogic stretching), gentle twisting, energy work, and meditation. This 3,000 year old tradition of bodywork stimulates and balances the flow of energy within the body, opening the areas that are blocked, bringing the receiver deeper into balance. This system creates a powerful release of stress and tension, an increase in vitality and well-being, and deepens the connection between mind, body and spirit in both the giver and receiver. Sessions are performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor.
- What should I bring/wear to class?
Students should plan to dress in comfortable clothes that allow for a free range of movement - such as you would wear for yoga or the gym - free of zippers or buttons. Dressing in layers is also recommended to account for changes in temperature. Please also bring a notebook and pen.
There will be a 45 minute lunch break each day. While there are many food options nearby in the neighborhood, students may also wish to bring their own lunch or snacks.
- Are payment plans or scholarships available?
Yes.
There are 2 partial scholarships available to the BIPOC community. Please email info@thaibkny.com to apply.
For payment plans, please email info@thaibkny.com to make arrangements.
- Do I need any previous experience or training?
It is recommended that students have a movement practice, though no previous experience or training is required for this course. However, please note that Somatic Thai Yoga IS a physical practice - students will need to be able to get up and down from the ground, support the bodyweight of another, and spend time some time in a kneeling and squat position.
- What is your refund/cancellation policy?
Please note that there is a strict no refund policy.
- How do I apply for certification following the course?
In order to receive certification, students must attend all 5 days of the training in their entirety and complete 15 documented 90-minute practice sessions. Once the practice sessions are complete, students will then need to schedule a teacher evaluation. If students are traveling from out of state and cannot meet for a teacher evaluation, they will need to complete 20 documented 90-minute practice sessions and schedule a virtual teacher assessment.
- Are CEUs available for this training?
