WHAT IS THAI YOGA THERAPY?
Imagine bodywork that combines the effects of yoga, meditation, pressure point therapy and deep tissue massage at the same time. That is the secret to Thai Yoga Therapy. Based on Nuad Bo-Rarn, the ancient massage style of Northern Thailand, Thai Yoga Therapy is a dynamic, therapeutic approach that uses reflexology, acupressure, reiki, myofascial release, deep tissue massage and passive stretch to promote physical, energetic and spiritual healing. This deeply relaxing, pain relieving and soul retrieving blend of assisted yoga, mindful movement and Thai bodywork encourages increased range of motion, relief of pain and muscle tension, muscle lengthening and flexibility, and improved lymph and blood circulation.
AN ANCIENT TRADITION
Traditional Thai Yoga is deeply rooted in the Indian systems of Yoga and Ayurveda. It is believed to have been developed by Jivaka Kumar Baccha, the personal physician to The Buddha, nearly 3,000 years ago. The Thai people call him Doctor Shivago, “The Father of Medicine”. Traditional Thai healing treats the entire being as an ever-changing network of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects that are influenced by each other as well as present external conditions. It’s primary aim is to restore and balance the body’s energy system and release tension in the body. Thai Yoga is a profound healing modality that combines assisted yoga stretches with pressure point therapy, deep tissue massage, energy healing and meditation.
AN UPDATED APPROACH
Face it, modern day life is stressful. The demands are great, our focus is scattered, our energy is depleted, and sitting at a desk all day is killing our backs. Due to physical or emotional trauma, bad posture, injuries or limiting belief systems, energy can get trapped or blocked in our bodies causing physical and emotional issues. Drawing from traditional Thai Yoga, Ayurveda, Reiki, and other somatic practices, Thai Yoga Therapy takes into consideration the demands we place on ourselves in modern society. Each session is unique – with it’s amazing multitude of techniques and adjustments, Thai Yoga Therapy can release energy blockages, dissolve tension, increase mobility, and bring the body back to its natural equilibrium where perfect balance and well being are present.
